What is Ductless AC?

You may have heard about ductless air conditioning, but do you still feel confused? We are here to answer any questions you may have.

While some homes and buildings are equipped with air ducts to help with airflow, others are not. That’s where a ductless system, also known as mini split-system air-conditioners (mini splits),  comes in.

Instead of spending the money and going through the hassle of installing ductwork, many choose to go ductless.

Like central air systems, mini splits require two components—an outdoor compressor and indoor unit that are linked together.

Since mini splits are small, there is a great deal of flexibility in where you place them. This design allows for zoning, meaning that you can control AC and heat in different rooms. Each zone has its own thermostat, so if a room is not in use then the heating or cooling can be turned off, saving energy and money.

The lack of ducts also means that mini splits do not suffer as much energy loss as a central air system.
